A fragment of a ceramic vessel of uncertain date. The fragment is a body sherd with hard and coarse fabric of a dark brownish-orange colour. Numerous small quartz inclusions are present within the fabric. The fragment is 52.5mm long, 23.8mm wide, 10mm thick and weighs 15.5g. Generic fabric types such as this with no specific diagnostic features can be difficult to date precisely and range from Iron Age to medieval in date. However, it seems probable that this sherd is from a hand made vessel which suggests an earlier date.

A large complete cast lead pot mend of uncertain date. The pot mend is comprised of two large oval discs joined by a thick central shank and was used to mend a broken vessel in order to lengthen the period of use after damage had occurred. The shank can be seen coming through the centre of the smaller of the two plates. The gap between the two plates is quite wide and contains no surviving ceramic material which would help in dating the object. The metal is a mid grayish-white colour and is worn. The pot mend is 45.9mm long, 34.5mm wide, 16.7mm thick and weighs 111g.

A complete cast lead pot mend of probable medieval date. The pot mend is comprised of a large circular disc and a bulbous shank and was used to mend a broken vessel in order to lengthen the period of use after damage had occurred. The gap between the two plates is narrow and contains the remains of a ceramic of pale orange fabric suggesting a medieval date for the mend. The metal is a mid brownish-white colour and is worn. The pot mend is 16mm long, 22.7mm in diameter and weighs 35.1g.

An incomplete cast lead object, possibly a fragment from a vessel or similar item of uncertain date. A large rim fragment is preserved, with folded or rolled rim, now cut into a roughly rectangular fragment perhaps as a result of re-use. The entire object has relatively worn surfaces, the front face beneath the rim containing moulded decoration. This comprises the remains of a vertical or diagonal band within which is contained interlace decoration formed from interlaced double strands or bands. The remains of a second vertical and may possibly be seen to the opposite side of the fron…

Two body sherds from very abraded handmade vessels with worn surfaces and some burning in places. They have a coarse fabric with gritty inclusions and some clay pellets, as well as possible organic material in one of the sherds. They have a combined total weight of 36.70g. The precise date of these sherds remains uncertain. It is possible thay are of later Iron Age date, however an Early Anglo-Saxon or even Medieval date cannot be ruled out entirely due to the abraded nature of the sherds.

An abraded base sherd possibly from a Roman vessel. It has an irregular shape. It is has a flat base with little sagging. One wall emerges at an angle of c. 140 degrees. The vessel has a light-grey interior but is an oxidised mid/light-orange colour on the internal surface, greyer on the base. It has fairly even shell tempering with some fragments up to c. 2.5mm long. It may be from the Roman kilns at Harrold, however a medieval date cannot be ruled out entirely.

A cast lead pot mend, used to mend a broken vessel in order to lengthen the period of use after damage had occurred. It is broadly sub-oval and flat in profile, with the sections above and below the slot of similar sizes. There are no discernible pottery fragments within the slot. The repair has corroded to a light-grey colour. Unfortunately such repairs are not diagnostic; a wide date range is therefore offered.

Two openwork pieces of triangular lead, joined at each corner. There are ceramic fragments between the peices of lead, which are orange with a dark grey core; the fabric has mica inclusions. The ceramic extends beyond the edges of the triangle. The lead could be a form of pot mend, however it is unusual in construction. The fabric could be late Roman in date. The lead is 34.77mm long, 28.09mm, with each layer lead being 3.2mm thick. The ceramic is 5.3mm thick. It weighs 31.6 grams.

Two ovoid lead pot-mends of Roman to Post-Medieval date (AD 43-1800). Each carries a small piece of earthenware, possibly Roman greyware, but not enough survives to be certain. Both have one flatter face and one domed face. They measure and weigh 31.99x27.01x9.81mm and 44.3g; 22.07x17.08x9.02mm and 13.7g. Unfortunately such repairs are not diagnostic; a wide date range is therefore offered.

A fragment of a glass vessel, perhaps a bottle. The glass is pale green and contains some air bubbles. It is thickly patinated with an iridescent surface. The breaks are also patinated. The fragment curves but has no diagnostic features. It was found in an area producing lots of Roman finds, but it is not certain whether this is Roman or later. The thickness of the wall may suggest a Post Medieval date.
