Small gold finger-ring with circular bezel c. 14mm in diameter, neatly curved to fit around the finger and decorated with very worn filigree and granulation. There is a border around the edge which was originally made from beaded wire 1mm wide, but the beading is now worn almost completely away. Four heart shapes of plain unbeaded wire are set in a cross on the bezel, with the points meeting at the centre; the two that run from shoulder to shoulder are made from a single piece of wire curving around like a figure-of-eight, and the other two are made from separate lengths. This wire is…

A cast copper alloy stirrup-strap mount of Early Medieval (Saxon) date. This strap mount can be classified as Williams Class B; Type 3, Group 1. The engarving in this example is quite worn, and so teh nature of the decoration, which is probably zoomorphic, is not visible. The flange is broken, and has one rivet still in place. A silver plate probably from a strap end of Early Medieval date. The plate is rectangular but with one corner broken off and damage to the middle of the other long edge. The upper face is plain, but on the reverse are slight marks where there have been rivets; one in a corner, and two at the other end near the corners, but further from the short edge. There is also a roughened patch in the centre. The plate is difficult to date, but as it is from an Early Medieval productive site, an Early Medieval date is suggested. As it is probably more than 300 years old, and made of silver, it…
