An incomplete copper-alloy linch pin dating to the late Iron Age or early Roman period (circa 100 BC to AD 100). The pin has a flat, circular head decorated with three recessed pointed oval cells. This leaves a narrow sub-triangular ridge of reserve metal in the centre extending to the edge. The reserve metal perimeter and triangle are decorated with incised lines. Approximately one quarter of the head appears to have been worn flat, presumably having occured during its use as a linch pin. The head has a flat side that overlaps on the underside.
