Lead weight. Cast shield-shaped weight. A crudely defined incised border encloses the sunken outline of an open crown with side fleurs and a lis in low relief below it. The crown either resembles or has been reformed to become a sunken leopard head motif. This has been accomplished, particularly at the left fleur/ear and along the band of the crown/head, by further cutting. Three angular stamps appear within this outline: they appear as a T shape, an I shape and as a small stalked rhomboid, and probably represent episodes of official inspection of the weight, a process which continued…

Copper alloy seal matrix. Cast vesica or elongated oval shaped matrix with incised central motif and legend around the edge. The legend, which is clearer on one side than on the other, appears to read: + ?S?I :?E - - C / . HEVE+?VINT. The back of the matrix bears the stub of a lug at the base of a relief fleur de lis; a motif whose three petals rise from a straight horizontal bar, a similar convention to that appearing on the matrix itself. Copper alloy key. The cast bit of a rotary key with a short round stem, either detached from the further extent of a separate stem or broken at a constriction. The end of the bit is hollow, suggesting use with the substantial fixed lock of a door, and a single cleft appears in the front and back of the bit. A further downward projection or ward flanked by three vertically incised grooves is an unusual elaboration, and perhaps an unfortunate one as lengthening the bit in this direction would significantly increase the stress imposed when the key was turned; it does indeed appear slight…
