The function of the object is not certain. It is made from cast copper alloy with an iron core, and is either a fragment or an incomplete object. The object is a sub-conical, with two wide horizontal grooves towards the lower edge. In section, it is a sub-circle, but one face is slightly flattened. Protruding off-centre through the copper alloy portion is a circular sectioned rod. This rod is 4mm in diameter. The object has a well developed mid green patina. A cast copper alloy trumpet derivative bow brooch, probably dating from the 1st or second century AD. The stub of a broken suspension loop is visible at the top of the brooch, which measures a total of 39.69mm in length. Below this are two short wings, 13.48mm across, with an oval profile 5.46mm at the widest point. The wings conceal the axis bar for a hinged pin. Each wing is decorated with two vertical ridges, one at each end and one slightly further in to the centre. The pin's hinge survives but the pin itself has been broken off. A cast copper alloy Hod Hill type bow brooch, probably dating from the 1st century AD. The brooch has been bent out of shape (it is now 59.05mm in length) and the pin is missing but it is otherwise in good condition with a mid bluish-green patina. The rolled wings at the upper end contain traces of the iron axis bar. They measure 23.58mm across. There is a deep notch between the wings, which is slightly off centre.
