Rim sherd of a thin walled (thick rimmed) Midlands Purple Ware pottery vessel, probably a jug or storage jar of post medieval date (1600 – 1700). This sherd is worn and probably comes from the rim of either a storage jar or cooking pot. The fabric of the sherds is a very hard earthenware with a number of small rounded and sub-angular grit, quartz, and broken burnt pottery inclusions. Sherd from the base of a partially glazed Midlands Purple Ware pottery vessel, probably a jug or storage jar of post medieval date 1600 – 1700. The fabric of the sherds is a very hard earthenware with a number of small rounded and sub-angular grit, quartz, coal and broken burnt pottery inclusions. The fabric colour is mid grey purple and the inner and outer surfaces of both sherds are a mottled purple brown.
