Base sherd of a ceramic vessel of Post Medieval date (AD 1500 –AD 1550). Diameter 70mm, overall thickness 21mm. Weight 46.77g. The sherd consists of about half of the base of a jug. The stoneware fabric is hard and grey and the outer edge is frilled to form an undulating footring. The inner unglazed surface is a light pink/buff colour and the outer surface has a smooth reddish brown (Munsell Color 5YR 5/4) glaze. When complete, the overall diameter of the base would have been about 70mm.

A 16th century rim sherd of Bourne ware type. It is an earthenware, sparsely glazed with a green glaze. The clay has been well washed and then extremely hard fired, almost to a stoneware standard. The rim sherd is from a jar with an internal groove for the lid to sit. Dark grey external surface with an oxidised core.

A Post Medieval rim sherd from an open bowl with bead rim (17th century). The fabric has completely oxidised and there is an amber glaze on the interior surface. The exterior is unglazed and has a dark red slip. The radius of the bowl originally was approximately 12cm; there is about 5% of the rim remaining. Weight: 42.18g

Rim sherd of a thick walled platter or bowl probably dating from the post medieval period (1550-1650). The sherd is irregular in plan and curved in profile. The fabric is a hard fired earthen ware with a number of small angular and sub-angular grit, sand and quartz inclusions. The fabric colour is two-tone, the outer a mid orange brown and the inner a mid grey. This two-tone effect has been caused by low temperatures within the kiln and is typical of this type of post medieval pottery.
