The coin has been pierced with a single, circular hole which falls to the right of the mint mark of the obverse. Obv. This issue has traditionally been titled 'Ormond' money because it was thought to have been struck on behalf of Chrles I by the Viceroy, James, Marquis of Ormond. Ormond had been in charge of the King's armies in Ireland from the start of the rebellion.
