Cast copper alloy buckle of Medieval date, c.1350-1450. Oval shaped beveled frame with forked spacer. The spacer consists of two prongs which extend from the back of the frame. These prongs would have originally been covered by a composite plate. The buckle is in excellent condition and is complete with pin. Find recorded from images supplied by North West MDC. It consists of a lozenge shaped plate that is rectangular in section and thickens towards the top where there is an integrally cast double suspension loop. The suspension loop is formed from two flat oval shaped lugs with central circular perforations, one of which is no incomplete due to old breaks. An irregular fragment from the bezel and shoulder of a gem set (intaglio) finger-ring; it is irregular in profile, broadly sub-rectangular in plan and D shaped in cross section. The fragment has been distorted by movement in the soil; both breaks are relatively fresh, although one (across the hoop) is more worn. The break across the bevel of the ring reveals the cross section of the gem (lost) which has a flat base and slightly curved (or dished) sides. A cast copper-alloy oval shaped single-looped buckle frame of Medieval date. It is as Meols type 2, with narrowed and offset bar, hexagonal section and small incised pin rest on the outer edge. The buckle measures 15.99mm in height, 11.41mm in width, 2.87mm in thickness, and weighs 1.51g. It is near identical to an example from London (Egan and Pritchard, 1991: no. 274) and dates to the 13th or 14th centuries AD.
