Dress pin of bodkin type. Bent twice along its length, probably was originally worn. Made of silver, quadrangular section, tapering to a point (broken). At the other end, broken at what would have been a rectangular opening. Decorated on both sides with incised foliate ornament. Period: Post-Medieval, 17th Century. Dimensions:Thickness: 2.32 mm Weight: 6.74 g Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996. An incomplete and very worn cast copper-alloy buckle frame with separately cast plate of probable Medieval date. The frame is as Meols type 1 but with slightly narrowed cylindrical bar. It has an expanded outer edge that has a shallow pin groove on the front face. The pin itself is flat, triangular in form, folded around the bar, and tapers to a sharp point. They have a combined total weight of 92.58g. 2) Three similar tesserae but with darker red/grey upper surfaces, perhaps intended to represent a different colour, resultant from poor firing or exposure to high temperatures, or simply due to preservation in the ground.
