A small roughly conical lead weight. The weight has a flat base and is decorated with three raised lined running up the sides. Biggs and Withers (2000, 30) suggest that such ‘standing’ weights mostly likely had numerous uses, such as line weights or …

Object type: UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Somerset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Unidentified iron object. The small object is very similar to an early Roman brooch in form, with a 'T' shaped head, and curved body. However, the foot is formed where the end of the object is rolled inwards, almost in a spiral. There is no sign of a catchplate or similar. This, and the fact that the object is made from iron, suggest that it is unlikely to be a brooch of this date, despite the other similarities. However, due to heavy errosion it is difficult to see any features of the object apart from its basic form, making it difficult to identify it further.
