A flint multi functional tool, a burin and cutting edge formed on a primary flake of tan coloured flint. The dorsal face is covered with cortex except where the working has removed it at the distal end. The right side has semi abrupt retouch along it to form a knife. More invasive retouch at the distal end forms the burin point. The proximal end is snapped. The flint is not patinated. It is Mesolithic in date probably.

BURNHAM HOARD 2010 T509: item B.1: Socketed Gouge Cast copper alloy socketed gouge. It is cylindrical with circular socket opening. The cross section changes from circular at the socket end to 'U' shaped at the blade end, with the changes corresponding to an elongated 'V' shaped depression on the upper surface which starts 22mm from the socket opening and extending to the blade end. Length: 91.81mm. Mouth: 19.58mm by 17.06mm. Socket opening: 12.80mm by 12.52mm. Blade width: 15.09. Weight: 53.73 grams.

Cast copper alloy knife cap or knife end dating from the early post-medieval period that is c. AD1500-1600. The knife cap is made from copper alloy but the slit still retains some of the iron knife blade inside. The knife cap is curved, terminating in a point. It is undecorated except for a thin moulding around the base and possibly some moulding or grooves along the top. It has a rectangular cross-section with rounded corners. An end-cap of similar form, but with four grooves, can be seen on this database at SF-CD6F27 and there is a good parallel to this LANCUM example from Wiltsh…

A cast copper-alloy Roman disc brooch. It is missing part of its outer edges, pin, outer edge of the catchplate and some of the enamelling due to old breaks. The brooch is flat, circular in form with enamelled decoration on the front face of the plate. This comprises a central circular field containing four sub-triangular fields at the compass points with smaller sub-triangular fields between these, all filled with blue enamel. Two stone cobbles which are heat altered and shaped. Both are rounded cobbles which have one face worn or shaped to be flat. One stone is complete. It is dense and well consolidated with many mica particles. Originally a yellow grey colour, pink discolouration suggests heating. Cast copper alloy unknown object, possibly a fragment of a Roman or later armour. The fragment is crescent-shaped/semi-circular and very thin. It has three perforations at the top, two of which are cracked but not broken. Is it slightly curved, with the concave side being the inner and the convex the outer side. It is undecorated. It is in very good state of preservation which suggests that it may be of post-medieval or later date. However, then it would not be an armour plate because medieval and modern armoury parts were more often made from iron rather than copper-alloy.

A medieval cast copper alloy buckle, complete with frame, pin, plate and three domed rivets. The frame is oval and has a narrow offset attachment bar. The plate tapers and the lower part is narrower than the upper. There appears to be no decoration but the upper part of the plate retains traces of gilding.
