Conical cast lead weight of unknown date. It has a hole through the centre running from top to bottom. The sides are irregular with several indents and there is an irregular raised border around the bae. It is 24.4mm long, 22.6mm wide and 13.05mm thick. It weighs 31.38 grams.
Plain weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards for a wide variety of uses and are hard to date precisely although most are late Medieval - Post Medieval. Although lead spindle whorls can be similar in general form the irregularity of this example makes it unlikely it was used as a whorl.

Cast lead alloy hanging weight, possibly for a steelyard, probably of Medieval to Post-Medieval date. The weight is a truncated cone with an integral squared pierced attachment loop at the top. The hole for attachment is sub-circular. There is a circular indentation on the base. The weight measures 20.2mm in length. The diameter at the bottom is 14.3mm and it is 12.2mm at the top. It weighs 19.29 grams.
Lead weights were used for a long period and lack many diagnostic features, so are difficult to date precisely although most are Medieval or Post medieval in date.

A cast lead alloy weight, probably dating to between the Medieval to Post Medieval period, c. 12th-17th century AD. The weight is square in plan, with a domed upper surface and a flat base, resulting in a sub-trapezoidal cross-section. The upper surface is decorated with a large raised long cross with three edges of the cross remaining; the three ends represent different types of cross, one being pattee, one pommee and one undetermined with a large angular knop at the end. A crudely cast, circular lead weight of Medieval or Post Medieval date. It is circular and the upper surface is slightly dished. There is a narrow groove which partly cuts across the middle of the upper surface, but this is probably accidental damage. There are no marks of value, but at a weight of 53.61 (1.9oz), this was probably intended to be a 2oz weight. It therefore dates from the 14th century onwards when the imperial system of weighing started to be developed. It is 31.6mm in diameter and 8mm thick.

A complete cast copper alloy cup weight of medieval to post-medieval date. The weight is circular in plan with a slight raised rim. A small central indentation is present around which is a circular border. There are two worn impressions resembling flowers on this side however they are to worn to be certain of their type. The reverse is flat and undecorated except for a small bead of lead in the centre.
The metal has a mid blackish-green patina and is worn. The weight is 28.8mm in diameter, 6.5mm thick and weighs 26.1g.
This is most probably a single example from a nested set.

A shield-shaped cast lead weight, perhaps a trade weight, probably dating from the medieval period. The rally record does not record the mass of this object as it exceeded the maximum measurable on the scales. Given that it exceeded 200g, it may be equivelent to half an averdupois/avoirdupois pound. Also known as a 'wool pound', this measurement came into general use in the 14th century. The weight has a raised field in the centre; other examples on this database feature heraldic designs within this field, e.g. YORYM-529DB8.
