Copper alloy Possible Fob chain. Machine made wound wire chain. One end is wrapped four times around a cast round-section bar with angled ends, which, if this interpretation is sustained, would be inserted into a buttonhole. Towards the other end of the chain a tiny slotted plate is neatly folded to retain a fragment of drawn wire of 0.9mm diameter in paired loops within which it retains some play, and soldered to the wire chain. Copper alloy, plaster and glass Unknown. Cast cylinder with a flange around one end, and two circumferential ribs bearing a series of lozenges, probably to afford grip or to secure the cylinder. The inside of the cylinder bears three circumferential grooves at its flanged end. The other end contains the flat end of a tapered object of solid clear white (i.e. transparent) glass which was formerly held in place by a layer of white fixative. Copper alloy Loop. Oval loop with a handle made by twisting a length of flat rectangular section wire of 2.3mm width and 0.7mm thickness (with corrosion); the end has been cut with shears. Though green corrosion covers much of the wire, bright metal is exposed by abrasion at one end. This resembles the wire handle of a bottle brush, though deliberately cut, perhaps to serve as a toy for blowing soap bubbles. Suggested date: Modern, 1850-1950. An integrally cast lug of diameter 3.2mm projects from the back at one end. Curvilinear decoration is enhanced by chased hand-cut spirals. Suggested date: Modern, 1800-1900. Cast fragment comprising paired flanges whose outer edges bear deep longitudinal scratches, and a central oval-ended slot whose edge is sharpened by heavy wear; the object bears the stubs of parallel lugs opposite the flanges, broken at the same point on each side. White Metal Possible Mount. Cast metal strip, broken in half, with upper curved edges and a straighter lower edge which suggest the object has been trimmed here, perhaps to remove an unwanted text or title. An embossed motif, which appears reversed on the back, comprises a cushion crown over four elongated leaves arranged as a saltire flanked by a pair of anchors on a ground of further similar leaves.
