The weight is circular and uni-faced with a worn raised border and is stamped with a sword and ewer on one face along with a now indeterminable third symbol, probably a crowned letter. The sword is at 12 o'clock representing the sword of St Paul, the City of London royal cipher and the ewer is at 6 o'clock and represents the Founders Company verification mark. A complete lead alloy bag seal of Modern date (AD 1800-1950). The seal is comprised of a single disk which is perforated by a hole running across its diameter. The holes would have been for wire or textile ligatures which were used to secure a bag. The seal is stamped with text on both sides which gives a probable Russian origin to the seal.
