Object type: PIN
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A worn cast copper-alloy pin or stud of possible Roman date. It has a large globular head from which extends a cylindrical shaft that tapers to a sharp point. All of the surfaces have extensive post-depositional wear and corrosion, with only traces of the original dark brown patina remaining. It measures 38.81mm in length, 8.05mm in diameter (at head), and weighs 3.51g.
This is a copper-alloy pin or stud similar to examples published from Colchester (Crummy, 1983: nos. 2995, 3002), suggesting a date in the Roman period for the current example, c.43-410 AD.
