Post Medieval (1500-1700AD) cast copper alloy belt mount. The mount is lozengeform at the centre, with one small trefoil terminal, and the other terminal expands outwards, but due to damage its exact shape cannot be determined. There are two integrally cast rivets on the reverse, both of which are bent, but appear to be complete. The rivets are triangular in plan. The upper surface of the mount had cast decoration, however due to wear the design is unclear. The mount is 27.1mm long, 11.4mm wide, 1.1mm thick and weighs 1.93 grams. The mount has a dull red-brown patina.

A cast copper alloy, heart-shaped mount, with rounded edges. The heart is long and thin. The front of the mount has been decorated with three ridges, into each a narrow groove has been cut. The ridges run diagonally across the mount, from left to right, from the top to the bottom. There is a rectangular loop on the upper part of the reverse of the mount; suggesting that this was once used to fix the mount to a strap. The mount is a mid greyish-green colour. The surface is worn and pitted.

A bent and incomplete copper-alloy mount of post-medieval date. Read illustrates a similar artefact, which he describes as a sword-belt mount of possible 16th century date (2001; pp. 43, no. 371). However, the bottom element of this piece differs significantly from that of the Read example and may indicate that this piece served a different function. The object is of thin section and would orginally have been flat. It has a circular aperture flanked on either side by a three-lobed border. Immediately above and below this section is a narrower 'waisted' section, each containing the h…
