A group of lead metal working debris found in a pit with fourteen iron nails (WILT-E2A7F2), Roman pottery (WILT-E232C8, WILT-E19E94) and coins (WILT-200EF8, WILT-203724 and fragment WILT-2057C7 which is possibly a Roman coin), a fragment of Roman spoon (WILT-250BB8) and copper alloy metal working debris (WILT-254207). The largest piece of lead is relatively flat on one side, the other being convex (as though formed in a dip or vessel), and measures 170x131x35mm. Weighs c.2kg. The fourth piece is smaller, and measures 7.1g in weight, and has a diameter of 10.6mm. One of the larger balls has marks from impact, the others appear unused.

The surface is a matte dark grey colour. The token measures 19.15mm diameter, 3.05mm thick and weighs 4.4g. Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses such as use as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets, weights, etc. and are believed to have been locally produced; they are therefore difficult to date precisely. A complete cast unifaced circular lead token. The token is decorated on the obverse with the initials S R standing on what appears to be a double line, with a pellet in between the S and R. The reverse is blank. The token is 16.94mm in diameter, 2.06mm thick and weighs 3.3grams. Lead tokens with simple designs are very easy to make and continued in use for a long period; those with initials are generally thought to date to the post medieval period. (1550-1800 AD).
