A medieval cast copper alloy strap end of composite construction. The strap end is flat, has a rounded terminal and at the attachment end has a circular cut-out and two attachment rivets. Decoration comprises a pair of engraved addorsed T-like shapes and fields infilled with zig-zag work. The back is left plain.

A copper alloy Early Medieval strap end of Thomas Class A dating from 750 - 950 AD. It is probably a Trewhiddle type, but the plate is worn and the decoration is no longer visible. There is a worn zoomorphic snout at the closed end with very prominent ears emphasised by deep circular depressions. At the attachment end, the strap end splits into two plates leaving a space for the strap. There are two rivet holes in the attachment end. See FRG Datasheet 32.

A fragment of a Medieval cast copper alloy composite strap end. It appears to possibly be zoomorphic but is too worn to determine any other decoration. It is mostly flat but the end of the object is rounded in profile. It retains only the bottom part of the strap end and what maybe the beginnings of the forked spacer. A copper alloy Medieval strap end which is anthropomorphic in the form of a king with a crowned head. It has a cast front plate and sheet back plate. The front plate is 14.96mm wide at the attachment edge and tapers to an anthropomorphic terminal. The terminal depicts the bust of a male wearing a crown, with well defined moulded and incised facial features, especially on the reverse where the base of the crown, the hair and the collar are especially clear. An incomplete cast copper alloy strap end of early-medieval date. The strap end is of Thomas' Class A with zoomorphic terminal thought the degree of wear makes ascribing an exact Type difficult. Copper alloy buckle or strapend plate length 28mm, width 24mm, thickness 0.8mm, weight 2.23g. This is a top plate from a composite strapend/buckle. The surface has a plain band running down the centre. This is flanked by alternating diagonal lines creating trapezoid panels, every other one contains two incised zigzag lines. Lower part of heart- or scrotum-shaped strap-end in rather abraded condition, with three ring-and-dots on front face. There is an ancient break across the split end. The dimensions are: width 45.5 mm, length >33.5 mm, thickness 1.5 - 3.5 mm. Compare examples in Appels and Laycock (2007) pp.248-9. Dates to the 4th century, but was perhaps in use later.

Copper alloy strap end, tongue-shaped with a small finial at the closed end. It was made from two leaves of sheet metal secured by two rivets, one tight at the closed tip, the other more open at the bifurcation. These rivets have a diameter of 2.0mm. In London strap ends of this type were found in contexts dating between 1270 and 1400 (Egan and Pritchard 1991, Nos 609-11).

Fragment of the lower part of a strap end terminating in a cross motif. The object was formed from three leaves of sheet copper alloy one of which is represented only by a fragment in the area of the cross-shaped terminal. One of the surviving leaves represents a spacer between the two outer leaves. This spacer is marked by a tapering transverse slot which extends halfway across its width. Cast copper alloy strap end, generally triangular, bifurcated with a single rivet. At its end is a terminal in the form of a pointed loop. This is separated from the main body of the strap end by two lip-like mouldings. This object is difficult to parallel but resembles a series of looped strap ends which, however, are now thought to be from book-straps (Egan and Pritchard 1991, Fig 101). Ringed strap ends ends are charactorised by being hinged, a feature absent from this find. The London strap ends were found in contexts dating from 1350-1450.

It is an openwork plate riveted to a back plate with space for a strap between the plates. The plates are rectangular in plan but with a trefoil terminal projecting from one end. Lower part of Late Saxon copper alloy strap-end: below the break an animal stands above the level of a sub-lozengiform terminal decorated in counter-relief with foliar ornament. On the flat reverse engraved decoration, which includes what may be interlace, is largely obscured by a thin ferrous deposit. This is also present on the front face and across the break. The dimensions are length >35mm, width 14.5mm, and maximum thickness 4.5mm. Dates to the 11th century.

Ridges run along the long sides, and there is a recessed line across the wider end. On one side two spots of light green corrosion are visible, suggesting possible attachment points. A fragment of a Roman copper-alloy amphora-shaped strap-end. The body is flat and triangular with bevelled edges and decoration on one face. In the wider end there is a slit to allow a strap to be attached; a slight seam down either side may indicate that it was either cast in this shape, or hammered together leaving a split attachment end.
