"The use of triple pellet stops and the eagle n the legends is strongly reminiscent of the sterlings of John's father Henry VII as Holy Roman Emperor. The face punch on this type is also very similar to that used on Henry's crown sterlings (Mayhew 254a-5), (Mayhew 1983, 105).

A post medieval silver half penny of Charles 1st. A rose is depicted on both the obverse and reverse. No legend. Two small holes have been punctured very probably for the coin to be used as a necklace.
As a general rule, pierced coins post dating AD 1180 are not considered to be classified as potential Treasure under the Treasure Act 1996, as they remained in circulation post piercing.
