Lead alloy, with silvered and gilt surface, medallion. Cast medallion, both sides identical, with a silver coating with gilding over it. A central motif of a head in profile right. Fourteen pieces of copper alloy casting waste. Irregular shapes with some rough surfaces and other areas with rounded lobes where it has cooled from molton. Some have areas of iron adhering, possibly iron pan. 101 grams in total.
Found in conjunction with a miscast cooking vessel pot leg (SOM-A794B7) and probably contemporary, from vessel casting or repair.

A damaged, now incomplete medieval sheet buckle plate in copper alloy with traces of gilding. It is of folded sheet construction, and far wider than it is long; the lower fold is also smaller than the upper. Neither of these characteristics are that unusual. Both folds are rectangular; the lower fold is 13.3mm long, smaller than the upper, at 17.6mm. The frame end is recessed for the frame to each side and has a central pin slot which is deeper on the lower fold probably as a result of post-depositional damage; the frame and pin are absent. The lower fold is abraded, in one corner in …

Pot sherd of Roman date. The sherd may be a rim sherd with a simple upright rounded rim but due to abrasian of the edges it is not possible to be entirely certain (NB. The photo shows the possibly rounded rim edge at the bottom of the photo). The sherd also has a narrow undulating flange running around the vessel. When whole the vessel was probably a jar or possibly a bowl. The fabric is creamy-white in colour, with notable reddish iron-staining.
Although not the typical mortaria product this fabric probably belongs to the Mancetter-Hartshill type series. It is creamy-white in colou…

Mis-cast copper alloy foot from a Medieval or Post Medieval cooking pot. The foot is trapezoid in section with a wider front than back. There is a raised rib running down the centre of the front. It expands in width and thickness to make the foot. The leg rises at 60 degrees from the foot. The front of the foot and the lower right side is missing and there is an irregular break across the top. The entire piece has a bubbly structure which suggests mis-casting. It is 35.7mm tall, 40.8mm wide and 19.8mm thick at the base; it weighs 48 grams.
