A flint flake and possible implement of undatable Prehistoric date (Neolithic/ Bronze Age, 3500-800 BC). The flake is incomplete, missing its bulb of percussion and distal end, and measuring 21.82x15.04x5.21mm (weighs 1.85g). The flint has 100% white patination, with black visible at the breaks. The possible implement has a trinagular cross-section and measures 33.59x10.86x8.83mm (weighs 3.36g). The flint is orange/ brown in colour with possible retouch along all edges. It has c.30% cortex to one end.

It appears to have a flake scar along the central arise on the dorsal face, and cortex at both distal and proximal end, and right dorsal/ left ventral edge. The flint is grey/ brown in colour. It may have been used as a scraper. The smaller flake measures 20.26x26.39x4.91mm, weighs 2.72g and has been snapped before the distal end, its widest point. A pyramidal shaped core dating to the Mesolithic period (6500 - 3500 BC). The core is triangular in profile and irregular in plan. A distinct knapping platform is present on the upper edge of the core with areas of multiple blade removals in a single direction around the edge. The small size of this core suggests that it was discarded as waste. There are areas of hinge fracturing near the base. The flint is a light grey colour. The core measures 25.4mm in length, 22.2mm width, is 20.6mm thick and weighs 14.63 grams.

Seven flakes of tertiary debitage (from the third / final phase of tool making) of Neolithic date (3500-2100 BC). The flakes are all struck on poor quality flint which varies in coarseness and colour, all being glacial or riverine derived, some possibly being chert rather than flint. None of the waste flakes have been reworked / retouched to form other artefacts such as scrapers. The dorsal faces of some of the flakes show ridges and flake scars, the reverse faces show conchoidal ripples. The flakes have a bulk weight of 34.67 grams

The scraper is formed from a squat oval flake of poor quality flint. The ventral face shows conchoidal ripples and the bulb of percussion . The dorsal face has a number of irregular and regular flake scars. A long edge has been reworked / retouched with small regular flakes creating by direct percussion creating a cutting / scraping serrated edge. The retouching of the edges is limited to the dorsal face only. A number of flake s…

Chert thumb nail scraper of later Neolithic or Early Bronze Age date (2300 -1800BC). The scraper is formed from a mottled grey coloured piece of chert from the secondary phase of tool making (waste flake / secondary debitage). The ventral face shows some conchoidal ripples but striking platform etc has been removed by snapping. The dorsal face has multiple and layered series of flake facets. These are most dense around the edge where a series of neat regular well applied secondary retouch can be seen. This has been well applied and forms a slightly serrated cutting / scraping edge. Li…
