The lower edge of the shield is pointed in the centre and within the shield is a crude representation of a lion rampant, together with additional pellets. Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A copper alloy unidentified object of probable Post Medieval date. It is a square sectioned curved bar. One end is rounded and the other end is broken. One third of the way from the rounded end is a triple collar projecting from the bar on all sides. Projecting from this on the outside of the curve is a cloud of melted, billowing metal. This does not appear to be intentional and may be the result of metal escaping from the mould during the casting process. The metal has a patchy green patina which suggests a date from the 16th century onwards.
