A gold Roman aureus of Nero (AD 54-68), dating to the period c. AD 64-65 (Reece period 3). Mint of Rome. As RIC I (2nd ed.), p. 153, no. 52 Obverse: NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, laureate head right. Reverse: IVPPITER CVSTOS, Jupiter enthroned left, holding thunderbolt and sceptre, (RIC 52; BMC 67). The diameter is 17mm and the weight is 7.39g.
