A medieval gold finger-ring, each shoulder decorated with two raised quatrefoils, one of which is slightly damaged. The centre is perforated with a circular hole [on the image this looks more like an unperforated recess], which probably once held the bezel, now missing, into which a gem may have been set. The hoop is of D-shaped cross-section.

The lunula is in two parts and nearly complete, only missing one of the circular terminals. The object is made of gold and so the precious metal content is more than 10%.
The lunula is semi-circular in plan although both parts have been folded. There is one part which does not have a terminal and it is this section which is less folded making the semi-circular shape more obvious. A medieval gold annular (ring) brooch, circular in shape, terminating in two clasped hands. It has two inscribed facets punctuated by colons with a quatrefoil flower at the base and centre right. Reading clockwise from the pin, the letters (on the inner band) are V O : V O and (on the outer band) V O ? : V O L.
The pin is plain with a beaded collar. The clasped hands may once have held a pearl or a gem, now lost. The reverse of the brooch is flat and plain.
Comparable brooches are 2006 T119 and 2007 T389. Similar pieces in public collections are one in the British Museum, P&E 18…

A complete gold Stater of Corieltauvian B Reduced weight type 805-11 of Iron age date (55-45 BC).
The Obverse is of the abstracted head of Apollo right with a spike and two crescents (right), small pellets near the above and a wreath with leaves inward.
The reverse is of a disjointed horse left with a sunflower below and pellets and rays on the left hand side with two parallel exergual lines with appended vertical lines.

A damaged composite ring made from a thin sheet of gold probably formed around two copper alloy penannular rings, now corroded away. Both terminals are broken and distorted.
Dimensions:
Diameter: 13.9mm; Width: 5.7mm; Thickness: 2.9mm; Weight 1.93g.
Composition:
Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence analysis of the surface of a composite ring from Willerby, Yorkshire, indicated a gold content of approximately 71-74%, a silver content of approximately 18-21% with at least7% copper. The object weighs 1.93 grams.

TREASURE CASE : 2012 T167.
A complete gold posy ring of post-medieval date. The hoop of the ring has been distorted due to its deposition but will have been circular with a narrow D-shaped section. The exterior surface of the hoop is undecorated and the interior is inscribed with the phrase "Patience is a vertue" in italic script.
Dimensions: Weight: 1.17 grams. 22.5mm x 2.6mm x 0.7mm.
Discussion: In the absence of any datable maker's mark we cannot confirm that this is pre-1712 and as such the item does not qualify as Treasure.

Description: A complete 16th or 17th century gold finger ring. The ring is cast so that the hoop is formed from sixteen domes or hemispheres, i.e. it has a semicircular section. One dome is elongated and probably acted as the bezel. The inner surface of the hoop is inscribed with the legend " * ALWAYES ONE >>>".
Discussion: The ring can be compared to ESS-EDA7E6 (Treasure case 2004 T353: dated 16th - 17th century) which is of similar design, but with a different legend.
