A sherd from a ceramic vessel of Post Medieval date. The sherd is a base sherd from a small vessel. The base is beaded. The fabric is hard, a yellow cream colour and the breaks are fine. There are sparse grey inclusions which are very small. Both faces are glazed, with a clear glaze on the outside with a stripe of thick brown, and the inside has a mottled brown and yellow glaze which has pooled in the base. The vessel is probably 17th or 18th century in date.

A sherd from a ceramic vessel of probable Post Medieval date. The sherd is a rim sherd from a thick earthenware bowl. The rim is rounded and slightly out-turned. The fabric is fairly hard, a bright red/orange colour reduced to grey on the inside. The breaks are irregular and the inclusions are sparse and small. They include grey stone and white pieces of quartz. The inside face is glazed with an iron rich dark brown glaze. This continues over the rim but not further on the outside. The vessel is probably 16th or 17th century in date.

A cast copper alloy fitting, possibly a handle attachment for a copper alloy vessel. The object consists of a square-section 'skirted' fitting with a separate length of rod which appears incomplete and which is inserted into a cylindrical extension below the 'skirt'. The fitting itself has a circular pit on one side. Engraved radiating lines decorate the 'skirt' and there are crossing lines on either side of the square. The function of this object is unclear but it may have held a handle from a vessel.

A base from a Roman ceramic vessel; probably a colour coated beaker dating from the later Roman period. Only the base of the vessel survives. It is narrow at just 40.97mm diameter. It tapers to 35.9mm at the narrowest point and then the walls flare. The fabric is white to light grey with a colour coating of dark grey on the outer face, and of grey with red tones on the inside. The breaks are fine with a smooth feel and the inclusions are mainly flecks of black and orange-red (perhaps grog). A lead alloy 'pot mend', probably dating from the medieval period. The pot mend comprises two sub-oval discs joined by a thick central shank and was used to mend a broken vessel in order to lengthen the period of use after damage had occurred. Although very hard to date on their own, some pot-mends do date to the Roman period, although the majority date to the medieval and post-medieval period, c. AD 1300-1550.

A Medieval to post-Medieval vessel foot from a copper alloy cooking vessel (c. 1250-c. 1650 AD). The object is sub-rectangular in plan and cross-section throughout its length. It is undecorated but the front retains a raised central vertical rib. The base of the foot is now worn, broken and rounded, but would have resembled an animals' paw. A fragment of a cast copper alloy vessel of medieval date. The fragment is part of the leg of a probable cooking vessel. The leg is roughly D-shaped in section with a concave reverse, rounded edges and two raised ridges on the front. Both ends of the fragment are very worn and the leg is undecorated. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The fragment is 58.8mm long, 32.8mm wide, 11.4mm thick and weighs 74g. While it is not possible to allocate this fragment to a specific type a mid 13th to 16th century date is generally accepted for copper alloy cooking vessels.

A cast copper alloy Medieval or Post Medieval vessel fragment. It is part of an arm from a tripod ewer, pitcher or cauldron, and would have formed an angled link between the body of the vessel and its rim. A similar arm would have matched it on the opposite side of the vessel, and a handle for suspension would have been attached through both arms. ( Egan 1998, fig131, no.446). The dark orange-red slip suggests that this may have been produced in either Southern or Central Gaul. samian ware was exported from gaul from teh First to Third centuries AD.
