An incomplete copper alloy buckle and plate of medieval date. The object is unusual as it has a rotating clasp for fastening rather than a pin. The buckle, plate and clasp are all separately made. The frame is incomplete with only the strap bar and a short length of the frame to either side still remaining. The plate is rectangular with a centrally placed rectangular hole at which point it is fitted around the strap bar of the buckle. Copper alloy buckle. Cast rectangular buckle frame with a thickened curved edge and a prominent notch for the pin. Rust staining on the pin bar suggests the pin may have been made of iron, and together with the small size of the object this may tend to confirm a function as a spur buckle. Suggested date: Late Medieval, 1350-1400. Length: 16.9mm, Width: 13.2mm, Thickness: 4.1mm, Weight: 2.13gms.

A complete cast copper-alloy medieval seal matrix of conical form (c. 14th century AD). The handle is hexagonally faceted. Its loop has an angled top and it is recessed on both sides. It has an off centre circular perforation, recessed on one side. The circular die features two heads facing each other within a pelleted border. The people have well defined hair and facial features. In between them seems to be a plant/tree of some description; with four pellets and a much smaller one below, from which a thin stem leads down into the plant's pot. A complete cast copper alloy strap end of medieval date. The strap end is a composite piece which is sub-rectangular in plan, tapering towards a closed curved terminal. No forked spacer can be seen within the outer sheets of metal due to organic material compacted within the space. There is a single rivet present at the open end and one in the centre of the curved end both of which can be seen on both sides of the strap end. The object is undecorated. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is slightly worn. The strap end is 30.7mm long, 11.7mm wide, 4mm thick and weighs 4.1g. …

A cast copper alloy casket key dating from AD1100-1400. It has a circular bow with a flat collar below and a hollow shank of oval section. The bit is a rectangular tab with a wide cleft in the leading edge. A small part of the bit and the end of the shaft have broken away and are missing. The key displays a patchy, light green patina. It is 35.5mm long, 14.4mm long and 3.3mm thick. It weighs 3.07gm. Similar examples are illustrated in Egan, 1998, The Medieval Household, pages 111-112, and an almost identical key can be found on the database at reference SWYOR-546ED1.

A slightly damaged cast copper alloy medieval strap end, dating from the late 13th to 14th century AD. The strap end is formed from one piece of metal, split at the rectangular attachment end to hole the strap, secured by two copper rivets. The terminal end of the strap end has crenellated outer edges with the third crenellation solid and pierced either side by a circular hole; the tip of the termainl is trilobed. There is no other decoration on the strap end.

A corroded and damaged copper-alloy probably medieval sheet buckle plate. It is of folded sheet construction of a single rectangular strip of copper alloy, which has been folded over and fixed together with two rivets one of which still survives in situ, but is not attached to the other fold. A complete copper-alloy medieval harness pendant with traces of enamel. The suspension loop is at 90 degrees to the face. The pendant is broadly lozengiform in plan with four semi circular knops, one protruding from each side. The centre of the harness pendant has a raised convex boss with a circular perforation in the centre. There is evidence of red enamel in places on the harness pendant. A cast copper-alloy medieval strap-slide with a pair of short pointed internal projections. It is sub-trapezoidal in shape with slightly rounded corners. The artefact has a slightly rounded projection on the outer face. The projections lie closer to the inner edge. A similar example can be found illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (1991, 234; ref. 1263) assigned to a late 14th-century context.
