Cast copper alloy strap fitting or buckle of Medieval date. The frame is sub-circular in plan with a narrowed offset bar at one end and a rounded collared knop projecting from the opposite edge, forming a finial. There is no pin present but if the item functioned as a strap loop, rather than as a buckle, it may not have had one. Both buckles and strap loops are known in this design. The item is dated c.1250-1450.

A sheet copper-alloy strap fitting or strap end of Medieval date. It is missing its terminal and and lower plate due to old breaks. The object is flat, rectangular in form with slightly concave sides and attachment end. A copper alloy loop from a swivel type of strap fitting dating from the Medieval period. It consists of one of originally two oval frames, each with a loop ending in zoomorphic terminals attached to a hollowed flattened hemispherical centre. The hollow area would have held a corresponding rivet projecting from the other half. The animal moulding is very worn. The mouth clasps the flattened-hemispherical centrepiece. Such swivels were used on a range of strap fittings including animal leashes, hanging purses and sword belt fittings and were probably in use for the entire Medi…
