A worn and clipped Medieval silver cut half penny of John (1199-1216) probably struck by the moneyer Roberd, Canterbury mint, probably Class 5c, dating to AD 1207-1210. Cf. North 1991 Vol II, No. 971. This coin has a distinctive wedge 'X' of class 5c which would suggest the moneyer Roberd, but the 'R' on the obverse appears to bear similarity to that of a later class which might make the moneyer Robert. Without the crown of the bust it is not possible to classify this coin with certainty, but the overall appearance suggests Class 5c.
