A cast, copper-alloy, rectangular mount of the Medieval period. The mount is rectangular in plan with an incised and punched, feather-edged line along the border of each of the two longest sides. Between these two lines is a central, wavy line of the same design along the length of the mount. To either side of the central line are incised, elongated comma-shaped motifs. There is a drilled rivet hole close to each of the shorter edges. One copper-alloy rivet is in-situ, the other rivet is missing. The mount is rectangular in plan with an integrally-cast terminal at one end consisting of opposing, outward-facing crescents, joined at their centres across the width of the mount by a moulded, rectangular bar and a circular loop at the apex. The loop is drilled, probably to accept a rivet. The opposite end of the mount is broken squarely across another, drilled rivet hole. No rivets remain. A decorative mount which is now hook shaped but it is not clear whether this was the approximate original shape or whether the object has become distorted. The mount consists of a strip of copper alloy. The terminal ends are tongue shaped, the decorated end being flattened and having a hole of circa 3mm diameter, presumably for attachment. This is one end of a mount which has an irregular break, probably about mid-way along its length. A broken cast copper-alloy mount of post-medieval to modern date. As the mount is incomplete determining its precise function is difficult. The mount is sub-triangular in shape and has two attachment holes at its base. It is at the base of the triangle that the mount is broken. The sides have moulded tapering knotted decoration and terminate in an intricate knop.The mount measures 49.4 mm long, 40.67 mm wide, 3.36 mm thick and weighs 19.3 grams.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy probable mount likely to be of Post Medieval date (1600 - 1800AD). The mount is sub-oval in plan and slightly concave on the back. All the edges are broken. There is a circular feature in the centre. Around the outside of the central boss there remain traces of gilding and radial grooves. The surviving fragment has a dark green patina. There is no obvious means of attachment as the edges are notably worn and abraded. Length: 18.2mm; Width: 12.5mm; Thickness: 3.2mm; Weight: 1.05g

A complete Medieval cast copper alloy bar mount, c. 14th century. The mount is flat with terminal lobes at either end and a larger convex central lobe, which is hemispherical in cross-section.
