A complete, age uncertain, Roman-Post Medieval, crudely cast, lead alloy probable weight. Rounded, conical shaped apex but with tapering base otherwise oval in cross-section shape. There is a relatively, fair size hole of distorted crude oval shape that penetrates right down to the other end but does not go right the way through. This cavity 'mushrooms' out within the body creating an undercut. It is quite possible this weight was mounted on a wooden shaft, now rotted away, in which case it could have been used as a small club or walking stick handle. The weight has an uneven matt pal…

A knop from a post medieval pewter spoon. The object consists of a disc-like terminal with a moulded, grooved hemispherical decoration beneath. The remainder of the spoon has broken away and been lost. There are numerous similar examples on this database, including LIN-C975A2 and SWYOR-C89E1. This type of spoon is thought to date from the early post medieval period, c.1550-1650.

A probable fragment of a copper alloy Anglo-Scandinavian disc brooch. The brooch has an openwork design, possibly zoomorphic, and retains a stub of the original fastening. Most of the brooch, along with the hinge and pin fastening, have broken away and been lost. A complete example can be seen on this database (SWYOR-114BB0), though our brooch fragment lacks the fine moulded surface detail which has probably been lost as a result of surface corrosion.

A thin hard hammer struck flake of dark grey and brown flint with cream flakes. The left margin is pebble cortex. The platform edge remains on the dorsal proximal end and is abraded with fine bladelets removed. The right margin is sharp and of dihedral plan. The upper section has slight retouch, seen from the ventral side and the lower margin is shallowly and more abruptly flaked. Mercer(1981) illustrates a utilised flake on page 129,fig 56, L95.

A thin short soft hammer struck flake of translucent orange and cream flint.The butt is abraded and bladelets have removed part of the dorsal ridge. The distal end is hinged. Both margins are utilised with a notch in the distal end of the left margin and fine discontinuous retouch on both margins, giving slightly serrated edges. Mercer(1981) illustrates an edged flake on page 129,fig 57, L114.

A thick flake of dark grey flint with a pink tinge. The ventral surface has a spall missing so the flake has been damaged by heat. The dorsal surface has parallel feathered flake scars, cutting through the nodular cortex but leaving it on either side. On the distal end is a sharp edged facet which has been utilised with fine flaking resulting from its use. Mercer(1981) illustrates a utilised flake on page 131,fig 57, L111.

A soft hammer struck thick flake of grey brown flint with cream flecks.There are short step fractures at the proximal end where the platform has been prepared, removing some of the dorsal ridge and some nodular cortex. The distal end is thin and damaged and looks like it was attempted to remove flakes from a new opposing platform. As it failed this flake was removed to rejuvenate the core. The right margin has been semi-abruptly notched with some dorsal retouch running towards the distal end. Mercer(1981) illustrates an edged flake on page 131,fig 57, L112.

A soft hammer struck thin flake of grey brown translucent flint. It is of roughly pentagonal plan with a pointed proximal end and a hinged distal end with opposed flake scars on the dorsal surface. There is fine shallow retouch on the right and left margins, some of it on the right margin being visible from the ventral side. Near the left margin is a patch of use gloss. Mercer(1981) illustrates an edged flake on page 143,fig 63, L195.

A Medieval or Post Medieval cast copper alloy double loop buckle without its pin. The loops are oval with slightly widened outer edges. The buckle has bevelled sides to the outer frame and strap bar; the frame widens from the front to the back. The frame measures 23.81mm in length and 19.46mm in width and is 2.69mm thick. It weighs 2.5 grams. Whitehead (2003) illustrates a similar buckle (page 53, No.294) which he dates to c. 1350-1650 AD
