An unidentified artefact of high iron content metal. Sub-rectangular in plan, with rounded corners and one end wider then the other, and with transerve grooves at the wider end, the object takes the form of an animals paw, or foot. Slightly bent, there are two grooves on the reverse of the object. Bothe ends appear broken. The wear and corrosion of this object make an identification difficult. Images have been sent to curators at teh British Musuem, and to Finds Advisors of the PAS, and so this record will be updated in due course.

A heavily corroded and encrusted iron horseshoe of possible late Medieval or Post-Medieval date. A hand-wrought iron knife, probably Early Medieval in date, but feasibly from any point between the late Roman to Medieval period. The knife is incomplete and is in two parts. The blade has a narrow tang of rectangular section, closer in position to the back of the blade, but slightly offset. Two points with thinner and slightly different corrosion may suggest the position of rivets that would have attached the handle plates to the tang. The knife blade itself was probably triangular, and has a broader face to it than most Medieval examples and fits best in the late Roman and Ear…

Iron head of an Adze, heavily corroded, dating from any point in the Roman to Modern periods. In plan, the adze has a trapezoidal head with a projecting base. In profile the adze is triangular with a gentle curve. The projecting base that fits into a haft is subsquare in section while the main blade of the tool is rectangular in section. The edge is more extensively worn in one corner, and this wear combined with the curvature of the blade indicates that the user was probably right-handed.

Post Medieval? Iron cannonball, 95mm in diameter and weighing 1,760 grams (3lb 3.4 oz.). The ball may have been fired as it has a flat patch with scratching (the area reflecting light in the photo). Although the ball was found at Dadlington, a place long associated with the Battle of Bosworth, it is not believed to be as early as that. However it is interesting that several 'cannonballs' have been noted in this area.

There are four rectangular nail holes, three with nails in situ on one branch and all four nail holes with one in situ on the other branch.
