Roman Brooch: Incomplete and worn cast copper alloy Headstud brooch. The bow, foot and wings of the brooch survive. The head loop is missing although slight races of where this attached remain. The wings are cylindrical and the axis bar for the hinged pin is encased within. The top of the hinged pin fitting is in situ. The bow is semi-circular in section. On the arch of the bow is the worn headstud which consists of a raised outer circular rim with a central raised pellet. Part of a copper alloy probably Roman bracelet. It is oval in section and is a curving rod, bending more at one end than at the other. Both ends are patinated breaks. The metal has a very smooth finish and is very tactile. It has a well developed mid green patina. There is no decoration and only approximately a third of the bracelet survives. Similar bracelets include WMID-675537 and NCL-15EF70.

A copper alloy thimble dating to the Georgian period (AD 1760-1820). The thimble is manufactured from a single sheet of copper, decorated externally with diamond patterns contained within circles, repeated on the apex of the thimble as well as round the sides. A narrow circumferential line separates the patterning from the base of the thimble, which is undecorated. There are no makers' marks evident.

Incomplete and worn cast copper alloy Roman umbonate brooch. The brooch is sub-circular in form with a domed central boss and hollow reverse. The domed boss is decorated with a roundel design of enamel filled cells. The outer ring consists of blue triangular cells and there is an inner ring of samller red triangular cells. The remains of the hinged pin fittings survive on the rear but the pin is missing. Brooches of this type are typically dated AD. c.100-250.

A complete cast lead trade weight of medieval date. The weight is shield shaped and has a raised design consisting of a central vertical line crossed by three evenly spaced horizontal lines. A triangle of three raised pellets is present at the base of the vertical line and a row of four pellets marks the top of the line. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The metal is a mid brownish-grey colour and is worn. The weight is 60.7mm long, 45mm wide, 7mm thick and weighs 106g. A copper alloy Roman brooch; a rectangular plate brooch which is decorated by being silvered on the front. Th edges of the plate are damaged, but it appears to be complete. The front is silvered and scratched, but there does not appear to be any further decoration. On the reverse is a central projecting ridge. A copper alloy Roman brooch; a T shaped brooch dating from 43 - 200 AD, of which only the upper bow survives. The wings are long and tubular. They are decorated with two incised bands at each end. They hold a copper alloy axis bar and a slot is provided for the copper alloy pin of which only a fragment of the head survives. The bow is very thin, but wide at the top. A cast copper alloy strap fitting or possible clasp. The fitting is rectangular in plan and made of two sheets of copper, one of which is now broken and incomplete. The sheets are pierced at one end and two copper rivets secure the plates together. There is a large perforation between the two rivets which extends in the edge of the fitting, making the hole open. File marks can be seen on the inside of the sheets. This fitting may be a strap end or securing fitting for a belt buckle. It dates to the medieval period c. AD 1200-1500.

An incomplete and misshapen Medieval to post-Medieval cast copper-alloy closed thimble (c. 1400-c. 1550 AD). The thimble is slightly flattened. It has a plain rim and the sides slope towards the domed crown. The walls have circumferential lines of sub-circular indentations which extend on to the crown. A worn and incomplete cast copper alloy openwork fitting, probably a book clasp of 11th or 12th century date. Worn sinuous curves on the upper surface suggest possibly a zoomorphic form. The fitting is triangular and has nine circular apertures. At the wider end the bar to retain the strap is missing but the two supporting projections survive. At the apex is a flat-sided projection with a lateral rounded hole for attachment.

A complete lead alloy spindle whorl probably dating from the earlier Medieval period. The spindle whorl is sub-circular in plan and has a large slightly off-centre perforation. It has a raised rim that runs around the outer circumference. The spindle whorl is decorated with a series of raised pellets on both sides; there is possibly a cross on one side although it is hard to make out. Spindle whorls decorated in this fashion are usually attributed to the earlier medieval period, c. AD 110-1400. Some examples may predate this and belong to the end of the early-medieval period.

A copper alloy Roman brooch; a trumpet brooch dating from 75 - 175 AD, of which only the upper bow survives. The plain trumpet head is much wider than it is tall. It has a simple incised border and tapers into the upper bow. It is broken immediately below a beaded collar. A stub of metal projects upwards from the centre of the trumpet head.
