Two fragments one is 27.5mm by 29.9mm by 14.2mm wide, the other is 30.3mm by 22mm by 10.2mm wide. Both are dark brown, number of flakes removed over the whole of the surface, small part of the cortex remains on each, no clear working surface.

Pottery whistle. Fine oxidized fabric with traces of lead glaze with one copper spot. 42mm long, diameter 11mm, widening slightly to 11 - 13mm at end (irregular in shape). Weight 7.4g. Central hole off-centre, 5mm diameter with three 'radiating' impressed lines. Sound-hole 23mm from end, 9 x 3mm. Mouth hole 4 x 2 mm. Produces a high pitched sound. Late medieval to post-medieval.

Cast lead-alloy whistle in the shape of a pipe bowl, probably late 19th century in date. The pipe bowl is similar to clay pipe examples and is decorated with moulded decoration consisting of joined semicircles and small raised knops. The base of the bowl ends in a pointed spike. Casting flashes are prominent on both sides. Iron corrosion is evident on the rim, suggesting an iron collar. Hornfels whetstone, triangular in plan, tapering to one end, and rectangular in profile. The length of one side of the stone has been smoothed and flattened by continuous use, probably sharpening a metal blade. The opposite side is also worked and worn, but has a square section that is recessed, which may have been deliberate or through damage. Perforated whetstone of rectangular cross-section, made of a fine-grained siltstone. The stone tapers gently to the flat end. The top of the whetstone has been damaged and is irregular. The perforation is regular and has been drilled; it has been positioned slightly off-centre on one face. All four faces illustrate evidence of whetting, but show no obvious sign of being dished through prolonged use.

Wedge of sandstone hone, incomplete, c.80 mm long, max thickness (at break) c.40mm. A hole has been worked in the stone at a diagonal near the broken end, one end of which is on the outer surface and the other one the broken end. It is c.12mm in diameter on the outside but narrows at the middle, and presumable carried on past the break. There are many scratch marks on the surface. It is not unusual to find incomplete or fragments of hones as they wear where they are used so much.
