A worn and slightly damaged 3rd-century base silver Roman radiate of Gordian III, 'VIRTVS AVG', Rome mint (240-241 AD; Reece issue period 12; R.I.C. 71).
This coin has suffered some scratches on both surfaces that have cut through some of the silver wash.
