A complete misshapen post-Medieval cast copper-alloy mount (c. 1500-c. 1700 AD). The body of the mount was formally flat and symmetrical. It has a rectangular terminal at each end which has a decorative transverse groove. There is an indent at both ends of each groove. It has a central rectangular element that is divided from the terminals by two semi-circular cut outs at each side. The mount is in the form of a large three lobed end narrowing down to a short neck with a much smaller three lobed terminal at the other end. At both ends the lobes are emphasised by incised line. the front is slightly convex with rounded edges. The side lobes of the smaller terminal are worn and broken with old breaks. A complete cast copper alloy mount dating to the Medieval period. The mount is in the form of a kings head wearing a crown. Smaller mounts of similar form can be found on this database at HESH-52C2E2 and NARC-43D1F5, both of which depict an anthropomorphic head with stylised features similar to this mount. Above the head is a lozenge shaped plate representing a crown, or more likley a mitre representing Thomas Beckett. Cast decoration on the mitre is worn. Two prongs on the reverse are short.

A copper alloy cast rectangular belt mount, of D shaped section with a rivet hole of 1mm diameter towards each end. The rivet holes are wider, as if countersunk, c.2mm, on the reverse face. It was probably used as a belt stiffener. The convex surface is apparently smoothed by wear. The mount tapers from 3.80mm to 4.28mm wide, it is 13.82mm long x I.91mm thick and weighs 1.2g. A similar one can been seen at NLM-EC91BO. Suggested date: Medieval, 1350-1500.

Cast copper alloy strap mount dating from the Post-Medieval period. The object is octagonal in plan and raised in the middle (having slightly chamfered edges). Two oval sectioned tapering integral lugs or spikes project from the reverse of the object; one has broken off at the bend, and the other is complete but bent at 90 degrees in the middle. The mount has probably been fastened to a leather belt or strap and the lugs bent over to grip the leather. It is plain on the front. The mount is shield shaped and is decorated on one side with an armorial design consisting of four raised, upward pointing chevrons. Slightly discernable is the red tincture of the enamel of the chevrons and there is also some patchy traces of gilding still survivng. A copper alloy artefact of uncertain date, probably a mount, possibly of Medieval date. It consists of a triangular piece of sheet copper alloy with a single, central, square headed rivet. At the base of the triangle is a broken projection that appears to be the remains of an oval loop. The mount has a light green patina. It is 22.4mm long, 13.2mm wide and 4.6mm thick at the rivet. The sheet alloy is 1.3mm thick.It weighs 0.7gm.

A cast lead alloy probable mount likely to date from the Post Medieval period. It is circular in plan and The front is decorated with a design of an animal's face, possibly a goat, in relief. The centre of the face is obscured by iron corrosion, but two ears and a tuft of hair can be seen above and the nose can be seen below. There is also a raised border. Iron also projects from the sides of the object, and on the reverse are three protruding iron blobs. These suggest that the mount was attached by iron fittings. A copper alloy belt or strap mount dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1270-1400). The mount is sub-globular with two lobes protruding from either side; the top of the mount is decorated with four lines and columns of crude and uneven incised hatching. The two projections each have a rivet hole drilled through them, and one copper alloy rivet is retained. Similar examples are recorded from London and date from the late 13th to 15th century AD (Egan 1998).

Copper alloy with enamel Mount. Cast oval plate, shaped to fit a curved surface, with a pair of fixing holes of diameter 3.1mm which were secured by bolts or rivets with heads circa 6mm wide.
