A complete cast lead spindle whorl of uncertain date. The object is circular in plan with a flat top and base, rounded, slightly sloping sides and a central perforation. The whorl is undecorated.
The metal is a mid whitish-grey colour and is worn. The spindle whorl is 28.4mm in diameter, 7.6mm thick and weighs 37.7g.
Lead spindle whorls were commonly used from the Iron Age through to the post-medieval period and are difficult to date with any certainty. Decorated examples are thought to date to the medieval to post-medieval periods while undecorated examples cannot be securely date…

A cast copper alloy Roman dolphin style brooch, dating to the first century AD. The brooch is almost complete, missing only its pin. The bow is decorated with raised vertical ribs that run down the centre of the spine; the wings enclose the spring and are decorated with a single incised line at either end. The bow is slightly twisted towards the foot where the catch plate is retained intact. This brooch is similar to those illustrated in Hattatt (2000) nos 882 and 817.

A cast copper alloy fragment which forms a strip with transverse ridges. The strip ends in a flat-sided rounded loop which projects from the centre of the strip. The opposite end of the strip appears broken.
The object looks a little like a Roman brooch but this is very uncertain.

A copper alloy Roman brooch; a trumpet brooch dating from 75 - 175 AD, of which only the lower bow survives. The acanthus button is on the front only, and has three petals at the top and three at the bottom. Below is a triple collar. The lower bow is decorated with two vertical recessed panels, with a raised chevron at the top of each, both pointing inwards forming a cross (X) at the top of the decorated area. The foot is missing but part of the catchplate survives. The breaks are worn and patinated. The whole brooch has a dark green patina.

An incomplete cast copper alloy unidentified object of Iron Age date. The object is oval in plan though much of its original surface and edge has been lost to old and worn breaks. A raised circular element is present on one surface and is infilled with red enamel.
The metal has a light green patina and is extremely worn. The object is 13.3mm long, 10.3m wide, 2.8mm thick and weighs 1g.

A cast copper alloy Medieval annular brooch, dating from c. AD 1250-1400. The brooch is undecorated and has an oval cross section. There is a recess for the pin, which is made from a single piece of copper alloy bent around the pin bar. The pin may be a replacement as its patina is different from the rest of the buckle.

An incomplete copper alloy Roman enamelled umbonate brooch. The brooch is domed and covered with two concentric rings of small triangular cells. The outer ring cells are, alternatively, filled with white and blue enamel. The inner tringular cells are narrower and inlaid with white and red enamel. A small conical hollow at the centre shows no trace of enamel. The hinged pin and the stub of catchplate extend beyond the back. The reverse of the dome is concave shaped. A part of the pin lug and the catchplate have been preserved, the pin is missing.

A very worn oval seal matrix of conical form and with a quatrefoil loop. The face of the seal (18.14 x 14.33) is now too worn for the inscription to be understood. It appears to show a bird, possibly and eagle or an owl. The little that can be seen appears to read:

A cast copper alloy trade weight for a quarter ounce. The weight has a crown at 12 o'clock and an unidentified mark at 6 o'clock, possibly a ewer but too worn for definite identification. The trade weight is now worn and slightly underweight at 0.22 oz (6.3gms). The trade weight dates from AD 1550 onwards. Without being able to identify the symbology a more accurate date remains elusive.

A moulded or xast lead alloy post-medieval token, possibly for gaming or an agricultural tally. The token is bifacial and has an image on the obverse that may be a ship in sail, or a stylised combination of initials such as CIH. The reverse has a central diamond shaped device that has curved lines surrounded each edge as an outer border. 16th-18th century AD.
