A lead alloy weight, probably dating from the medieval to post-medieval periods. The weight is circular in plan with a roughly D-shaped cross section. There are no markings, stamps or decorations on either the upper or lower face of the weight. There is a small depression on the underside of the weight, and this may be a result of manufacturing by turning. The weight weighs 41gms or 1.45oz. Although very hard to date without contextual information, the weight is most likely to date from the medieval to post-medieval period, c. AD 1300-1600,

A Medieval to Post Medieval cast lead alloy uniface circular token. The token has a raised design of an intial or intials, probably intended to be a single letter W (designed as two overlapping letter Vs). There is a single raised pellet both above and below the letter. The reverse is blank. Lead tokens are difficult to date precisely and could be Medieval to Post Medieval in date (1250-1800 AD). The majority of lead tokens are thought to date to the seventeenth century or later, c. 1600-1800, especially those which depict lettering or initials, this token is therefore dated in lin…

A complete lead alloy spindle whorl probably dating from the earlier Medieval period. The spindle whorl is sub-circular in plan and has a large slightly off-centre perforation. It has a raised rim that runs around the outer circumference. The spindle whorl is decorated with a series of raised pellets on both sides; there is possibly a cross on one side although it is hard to make out. Spindle whorls decorated in this fashion are usually attributed to the earlier medieval period, c. AD 110-1400. Some examples may predate this and belong to the end of the early-medieval period.

A lead alloy trade weight dating from the Medieval period. It is triangular in plan and has bevelled edges. The front face is decorated with a crude fleur-de-lis with a large pellet in each corner. It has a grey patina. At 109g it was probably intended as a 4oz weight, though it is a little light. Similar weights can be seen in Biggs, p.43 which discusses how lead weighs such as this were used to weigh goods under the averdepois system from 1390 in England and were used throughout the 15th century.
