A copper-alloy seal matrix with a double-sided fob, probably of 17th-18th century date.
The seal matrix has a sub-triangular body, with curvilinear edges terminating in a concave, or C-shaped lower edge. The body has a gentleman in moulded relief on one face and a gentle-woman on the opposite face. Though wear obscures the detail, the woman's dress appears to have a triangular bodice with sleeves down to the elbow, and flaring skirts that are reminiscent of 18th century fashion. The woman also appears to be holding up a fan in her left arm. At the top of the body is a V-shaped notch…
