A Medieval voided long cross penny of Henry III (1216-1272 AD). Moneyer: Nicole; Canterbury Mint. North Class Vb, dated to c. 1250-56 AD. Obverse depicts a crowned bust facing with sceptre, with fleur in centre of crown; the legend reads: + hENRICVS [REX] III. The 'N' and 'R' in Henricus are ligated with the R having a wedge-shaped leg. The reverse depicts a voided long cross with three pellets in each quadrant and a small central pellet; the reverse legend reads NIC/OLE/ONC/ANT. Cf. North 1994 Vol I, p227, No. 992/2; also Wren 1993, Class Vb.

A silver denarius of Carausius (AD 286-293) (Reece Period 14), RENOVAT ROMANO, She wolf right with suckling twins Romulus and Remus. Mintmark: -//RSR; commonly attributed to London, but to be studied further. RIC V, pt 2, p. 512, no. 571. BNJ 2013 Coin Register p. 285, no. 49. Silver denarii of Carausius are rare, but the Wolf and Twins type is one of the most common reverses. This coin is included in Sam Moorhead's corpus for RIC.
