A gilded late Medieval to early post Medieval finger ring that has been broken and later repaired, with a thin gilded copper alloy band soldered to the inside of the bezel. The earlier ring has a rounded bezel  with a raised cast decoration consisting of a series of oblique lines radiating from the centre of the bezel to its edges, giving the impression of a sunburst or a star. Description: A silver Roman denarius that has been incorporated into a finger ring as the bezel. The hoop is rectangular in cross-section, flaring at the shoulders with a longitudinal groove along the centre of the outer face of each shoulder. The outer end of each shoulder has been soldered to the reverse of the denarius. The whole object including the coin then appears to have been coated with white metal.
