Pottery body sherd made of gabbroic clay that weathers over the gabbro outcrop on the Lizard in Cornwall. The exterior and interior of the sherd have depressions which may have been caused by the erosion of larger inclusions from the matrix rather than being deliberate impressions. The fabric has inclusions of pale felspars and dark augite and is orangey-brown on the exterior and mid-brown on the interior of the sherd. This type of fabric is seen in Grooved Ware vessels, dating from c.2900-2400 BC (Henrietta Quinnell, forthcoming).

There is a large ovoid section that has spalled out of the orange exterior surface of the sherd, revealing the mid-brown fabric beneath. The interior of the sherd is smooth and dark brown in colour. There are six horizontal grooves parallel to the upper edge defining thicker bands between them, and three grooves at an oblique angle to these, on the exterior of the sherd. Pottery body sherd of baked clay, possibly from a mould but it is worn so it is hard to be certain. The fabric has fine inclusions which have been altered and are not visible without magnification.
