Object type: TILE
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Greater London Authority
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A fragment of a post medieval polychrome delft tile. One corner of the tile and fragments of two of the original edges have survived. One face is tin glazed with blue, purple and yellow; the central zoomorphic design (blue and yellow) is now blurred but sits within a border of concentric circles. Most of the circles are blue but one in the middle is purple. It measures 114.9mm (length) x 58.5mm (width) x 15.7mm (thickness) and weighs 140.58g. Roy Stephenson has examined this fragment and suggested that it was made at the Rothehithe pottery in London and dates to c. 1640 to 1660 AD.

Object type: FLAKE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Cornwall
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Flint flake with trimmed left hand edge, dorsal view. There is possible retouch at the distal end but probably natural abrasion. If it was retouch then the flake could have been used as a scraper. The ventral side is concave which acts as a finger-hand grip for using as a tool. The flake has a pronounced twist in profile, 'S' shaped. The flint is also eye-catching with striking light grey coloured banding across the dorsal and ventral sides. The flint is of a dark brown colour with grey banding and was likely derived from a local beach pebble. Mercer [1981] illustrates a similar e…
