An incomplete blue glass bead of an Oldbury type. The object is bun shaped and is decorated with three white swirls. Only one half of the bead survives however it appears to be a modern break. The object appears to be capped, ie different glass on the outside and on the core, which is quite rare. The bead can be classified as Guideo Class 6, M.Guido, The Glass Beads of the Prehistoric and Roman Periods in Britain and Ireland (1978)53-57 and 112-117(schedules). A fragment of a cast copper alloy spearhead probably dating from the later Middle Bronze Age, about 1400 – 1125 BC. The fragment comes from the tip end and all that survives is the tip proper. The spearhead seems to have been very long and thin judging by the angles of the two sides. The midrib is raised, forming a lozenge section and it is solid. There are two ridges either side of the midrib, parallel to it, but tapering to the point. Whilst little remains of the spearhead, the slimness of the blade and the ancillary ridges suggest that it might belong to the basal looped categ…

Cast bronze (copper alloy) fragment of a socketed spear (spearhead) of Middle or Late Bronze Age date (1500 - 800 BC). The fragment consists of the upper part of the spear being broken at the top of the socket. The blade facets and tip are both lost. The spearhead fragment is broadly sub-triangular in plan and profile with a distinct bi-convex shaped cross section. The lower portion of the spearhead has been lost and the break is too high to include the cast side loops. The break at the base of the spearhead includes the top of the socket which is oval in shape and position toward one …

A probable element from a tip of a Bronze Age cast copper-alloy spearhead. The fragment is now sub-trapezoidal in plan, with breaks at both ends, and broadly lozengiform in cross-section, with flattened side flanges. Both edges have been abraded. The metal has a variable dark-green patina with some pitting and small patches of lighter corrosion product. Unfortunately with so much of the artefact missing, it is very difficult to tell the phase of the Middle/Late Bronze Age to which it belongs.

A fragment of a copper-alloy socketed spearhead of Bronze Age date. The piece represents part of the tip area. The circular-sectioned socket extends almost to the end and contains traces of charcoal. Either side of the socket the spearhead tapers towards a thin edge. One of these sides appears to be heavily damaged, while the other seems to be largely intact. The curvature of this intact sides suggests that the implement was fairly short. The tip is rounded, probably as a result of wear through use. The piece measures 44.9mm long, 14.2mm wide and 7.6mm thick. The weight is 10.61g. S…
