Copper alloy coin. Concavo-convex or dish shaped Celtic Unit, with hammered design discernible on one (the concave) side. Obverse description: Blank. Reverse description: Adjacent convergent members, a pellet or pellets detached from these. Cliff Reeves kindly examined this coin, and suggested it to be pre-Roman. The size and characteristics resemble those of a South Ferriby silver unit (e.g. Van Arsdell no. 887-1; of diameter 14mm and weight 1gm), though this example appears to be copper alloy, and is a little larger and heavier. Suggested date: Late Iron Age, 45-10BC.…

A late Iron Age bronze unit. This coin is heavily corroded, making exact identification difficult; it is, however, similar to ABC 2407 (=VA1669/BMC2446) attributed to Dubnovellaunos and ABC 2541 (=VA1615/BMC2450) and ABC 2544 (=VA1646/BMC2453) both attributed to Addedomaros. The coin is certainly of Eastern (Catuvellauni/Trinovantes) origin. The coin has a sub-oval, dished flan and is corroded. It measures 12.8mm in diameter, 1.4mm thick and weighs 1.1g.
