Treasure case 2012 T378: Acquired by Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum One Iron Age pale gold stater, one silver stater and one base silver stater found in close proximity (within a 2-3m radius). The items were found in a ploughed field over several days. From the report of the finder the coins were scattered within the plough soil in a close concentration with no evidence of a container. A Post Medieval gold finger ring of 16th to 17th century date. The ring is decorated with a geometric grid pattern on the exterior containing significant remains of white enamel. Each square in the grid is appox 0.9mm wide. An inscription runs around the interior of the ring which appears to be in French ˜+PRENE + EN + GRE+". A Post Medieval gold finger-ring of late 17th century date. The ring has an oval bezel (9.5mm x 8.6mm) which is set with a faceted rock-crystal beneath which are traces of a gold monogram representing the initials of the deceased on plain black to Grey background. The monogram is faded, off center and difficult to read. Black enamel survives in the floral decoration on the shoulders and in the oblong cells decorating the underside of the bezel; each of these cells has a white enamel dot at the base. A Medieval gold finger ring of probable 13th century date. The ring is stirrup-shaped set with a green stone (possibly glass or emerald). There are decorative bosses along the shoulders running along a raised ridge. The bosses have punched decoration giving them the appearance of clusters of granulation on one shoulder and stripes on the other: possibly intended to represent a vine with grapes, leaves and tendrils; or another floral design. Description: A gold finger ring of Medieval date. It has a d-shaped hoop which is complete. It is decorated on the outside face with lozenges infilled with groups of pellets. It widens slightly to form a stirrup-shaped like bezel with a circular hole for a setting, which is missing. It is bent out of shape due to post-depositional damage. Discussion: For comparison see a silver finger-ring from Ewell, Surrey (2005 T93) dated to the 13th Century.

An Iron Age uninscribed uniface gold stater, c. 60-20 BC. One side of the coin is undecorated, while the other depicts a triple-tailed horse facing right, wheel below and charioteer's arms above. The perimeter edges of the coin are missing, so further attributes are unavailable for identification. Listed as the Selsey Uniface type in Rudd (2010) 'Ancient British Coins', p. 47, No. 488. Rudd (ibid) mentioned that approximately 50 similar coins were discovered as part of the Climping, West Sussex hoard. Cf. VA 216, BMC 461-75.
