Object type: PENDANT
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete cast lead alloy or pewter pendant of post-medieval date. The pendant is in the form of a phallic male figure with extended vertical phallus. From the top of the head two worn and broken projections extend, probably representing the remains of an attachment loop. The vertical phallus, along with the appearance of the arms holding it into the figures chest, suggests this pendant is derivative of a Roman Priapic form. The pendant is 35.4mm long, 12.7mm wide, 10.5mm thick and weighs 13.5g.
