Copper alloy heraldic mount. Large shield-shaped copper alloy mount. Sheet metal with red enamel inlay on the front surface. No obvious means of attachment, so may have been inlaid into wood, leathers etc. The design is “gules with a chevron between ten crosses patteé, six in chief and our in base argent” the arms of the Berkeley family. James Berkeley, by writ as Baron Berkeley married the daughter of H. Stafford of Hook, Dorset in 1421(researched by finder).

Copper alloy seal matrix. Circular seal matrix with a hexagonally faceted handle. At the top of the handle is a collar flanked by grooves. Above this is a narrowed, tri-lobed suspension loop with an off-centre, circular hole. There are signs of wear at one side of the loop. The deeply incised central motif is two crossed hands above an inverted fleur-de-lis. The legend reads LEL AMI AVET. "You have a loyal friend"

A cast copper alloy mount of uncertain function. Incomplete. Circular, flat disc with a recessed design of a lamb and flag. The body of the lamb is deeper than the rest of the design, and is decorated with irregularly shaped dots to indicate the fleece. The lamb's head is turned to look along its back (right) and its front legs are crossed. The flag element is very shallow and rises from behind the middle of the animal's back with the tapering pennant running to the right.There is some damage to the edge and a slight projection at the right side. The back is flat and undecorated.

Lead alloy token. Uniface circular, lead token with lettering and central design. The lettering appears to read: RNTOVCH with the N reversed and followed by a circle and pellet from which projects a branch-like element. In the centre is a design of concentric ridge, band of pellets, ridge and a central pellet. The back is flat and undecorated.

Copper alloy buckle plate. Large sheet metal composite buckle plate. Incomplete. The front plate is the larger and is rectangular. One corner is broken off. At one end is a circular notch at the mid point, and a single, large rivet at one corner. The front is decorated with a geometric pattern of lines forming lozenges and saltire crosses between. At the back is a smaller, incomplete plate, at the notched end only, and attached with the rivet mentioned above. This may be a piece of decorated sheet metal re-used as a buckle plate.

Copper alloy mount. Cast, domed mount with a central, circular attachment hole. The mount is hollow backed and has a bevelled edge. The front is decorated with a lion with raised front paws and its tail curved over its back (in relief). The attachment hole passes through the lion’s back. This suggests that this may be part of composite object and might have functioned as a back plate for a handle or other attachment.

Copper alloy finger ring. A decade ring. The band has ten raised knobs (D-sectioned) The bezel is sub-oval and decorated with an angled relief leaf-shape flanked by incised diagonal lines in the remaining space. Such rings were intended to assist in the saying of the rosary. A finger-ring of this type, with the same motif, was found in Sutton, Suffolk (SF-6FD6D8 on this database). Published by Egan (2005, 329, 331).

Copper alloy dress fastener. A cast, rounded shield-shaped hooked fitting. Incomplete and very corroded. The main part is domed and hollow backed. It is decorated with a cast design of a double strand cross, probably that of St George, with a raised, sub-circular double band around it. A cast copper alloy figurine of uncertain (Roman to post-medieval) date. It is incomplete and crudely made. The object has a rectangular section and is 4.5 mm thick. It appears to be a stylised horse or deer. The head is triangular and has a crude projecting bar for the ears. The neck is long and joins to a narrow body at a slightly obtuse angle. A flint awl. Dark grey flint with white mottles. Mid gloss patina. Irregular, elongate flake from which the bulb of percussion has been removed. There is a small area of pebble cortex at the distal end of the dorsal face. Waves of percussion ventrally and flking scars dorsally. The proximal end has been pressure flaked to form a point which has been notched at one side. The other side has a cutting edge formed by conchoidal flaking on the ventral surface.
