A worn and bent, and very pitted silver Medieval voided short-cross penny of John (1199-1216), probably minted at York by the moneyer Nicole, dating to c. AD 1200-1204. This coin appears to be of class 4b or c type, North vol. 1, no. 968/2 or 968/3 which is supported by the characteristic coarse form of the bust with large eyes, single crescent hair and uneven beard.
