A complete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single loop D-shape with a narrowed and offset strap bar.
The metal has a mid greenish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 15.6mm long, 13.6mm wide, 2.8mm thick and weighs 1.2g.
A parallel is illustrated in Whitehead, p.19, no.54 and is dated circa AD 1250 - 1500.

A cast copper-alloy zoomorphic hooked mount, probably a harness hook, probably dating from the 13th or 14th century. It could also be a sliding strap fitting with the loop to house the strap missing. There is a hooked shaft at one end of the object and a thicker, tapering projection with an animal headed terminal at the other end. The projection has a sub-square cross-section with rounded corners. The shaft of the hook has a circular-cross section, which becomes oval in section as it curves around. A complete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is a double loop asymmetrical shape with a groove on the outer edge of each loop and a narrowed strap bar.
The metal has a dark blackish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 24.6mm long, 18.4mm wide, 2.8mm thick and weighs 3.3g.
A parallel is illustrated in Whitehead, p.91, no.566 and is dated circa AD 1575 - 1700.

An incomplete and misshapen Medieval to post-Medieval cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle (c. 1350-c. 1650 AD).
The pin is missing. The frame is convex lat at the front and flat at the rear. Each loop is oval in plan and similar in size and the outer edge of one loop has a notch for a pin-rest. The narrowed bar is oval cross-section.
This frame is corroded and has traces of a dark green patina.
30.36 x 28.49 x 4.05mm. Weight: 6.88g.
Similar buckles have been published and dated c. 1350-1650 (Whitehead 1996: 53).

A white opaque glass bead of unknown date. It is sub spherical with flattened ends and a circular central perforation. Beads can date from the Iron Age to the post medieval period, but are most frequently found in Roman and Early Medieval contexts. There is Roman and Early Medieval material from this field, but similar beads are often found on Post Medieval lace making bobbins too. Compare NCL-DE1247 and LANCUM-04C700. The bead appears to be handmade.

Description: Copper-alloy strap end with silver rivets. The copper alloy is now very corroded and has lost much of its surface, leaving it a brownish colour. The wider attachment end is rectilinear and is split into a frontplate and backplate. A complete cast lead spindle whorl of medieval to post-medieval date. The spindle whorl is bi-conical with a central perforation running through it. Both sides of the spindle whorl are decorated with a worn design consisting of alternating raised lines and pellets and the edges are slightly raised forming a narrow border.
The metal is a mid greyish-white colour and is very worn and damaged. The spindle whorl is 28.5mm in diameter, 15mm thick and weighs 50.5g.

A complete cast Roman copper alloy dumb bell toggle. The two small balls on each end of the toggle are separated by two sharp raised collars and a narrow 'waist' between them. The object is in good condition, with a solid green patina covering the surface and only very minimal powdery deterioration. It probably dates from the Roman period, based on the period of usage for the dumb bell style toggles. It measures 23.65 in length, 10.25 in width and weighs 10.41 grams. Compare to SWYOR-7C6B07. A similar example was found at Dragonby, North Lincs (May 1996, 274 no. 34, fig.11.21).

A complete Post Medieval cast copper-alloy handle, from a chafing dish (c. 1500-c. 1600). This handle is mainly a heart-shaped frame in plan. The bottom of the heart has a small straight bar with the attachment lug (the top) the two longer sides that flare out to rounded corners are straight and the lower side has a large 'V'-shaped notch. A complete cast copper alloy toggle clasp of post-medieval date. The toggle is probably a sword belt fitting and is of Reads Type 7. The main body of the clasp is ovate in shape with a concave reverse and a transverse ridge at one end from which a bulbous knoped terminal projects. A fragment of a cast copper alloy Bronze Age flat axe. It consists of the blade edge and a small portion of the body. The axe probably dates to the early Bronze Age, c2150-1500 BC. The axe fragment is curved and wider at the blade end. It then narrows and thickens along the body. The blade end shows use of ware with pieces missing along the edge. There are no markings or fixings visible on the axe for further identification.
The fragment measures 64.9mm long, 71mm wide at the blade and 40.9mm wide athe the break end. It is 9.8mm at its thickest point and weighs 173 grams.

A very small copper alloy medieval belt or strap fitting with hanging decoration. The copper strap is formed of a single rectangular sheet bent over on itself and secure to the strap by two copper alloy rivets, both extant. The loop of the strap bar holds a small trefoil openwork mount. Although a very small example, this mount is probably of a similar date and function, being a strap mount or fitting dating from the 13th - 15th Century AD.

An incomplete copper-alloy thimble of Post-Medieval date. It is machine made in two joining parts, the rim and most of the cap missing due to old breaks. The body is formed from a single rectangular sheet of copper-alloy that has been folded to produce the cylindrical form of the thimble, a vertical seam with traces of solder visible on one side. Fragment of copper-alloy purse bar dating to the early post-medieval period. The fragment has a sub-spherical terminal with a series of curving grooves running up to meet at its outer edge. The arm is straight and is oval in cross-section. The object has a dark green patina. Ward-Perkins in the London Museum Medieval Catalogue dates the Type B3 to c. 1500 to 1550 AD. A complete example can be seen at DENO-846107 and other fragments at LVPL-DBC433, BERK-A80D01 and LEIC-736141.
